Client: LifePilot

Lifepilot is a website that has been developed in conjunction with the WVLLN at Bath University in order to help broaden access to higher education for adults.
We were asked to redesign the previous website and conceptualise a site that would actively engage with all potential users as well as seemless incorporate various media and applications already in place on the old website.
The previous site lacked direction and focus as well as bombarding the user with badly organised information. As a result we begun the process by working closely with the Lifepilot team to understand the requirements of all stakeholders and how these requirements related to website content.
We firstly developed a concept that would act as a hand holding mechanism to actively engage with users and serve up relevant information based on each users particular requirements. This took the form of a short quiz taken from the homepage. Users select from multiple choice answers that are related to their own situation. Based on the answers given, the system generates a list of relevant pages and video content from the website, specific to their situation. We used paper prototypes and interactive wireframes to demonstrate to the client how the system would work.
When this was finalised we worked up an information architecture document outling the navigational structure of the website.
We redesigned the look and feel of the website so as to achieve greater credibility and engagement. This was done by improving the messages from the homepage, adding images of real people to give the site context, creating an obvious start point from the homepage and including video case studies relevant to content.
We utilised some third party software (Vimeo and Google maps) which we seemlessly integrated into the site and content management system.
The Lifepilot team manage the website using a bespoke version of our content management system Artisan.
