Work > Collins Education interface design

Client: Collins Education
Web: www.collinseducation.com

Collins Education asked us rework their website after statistics showed the site consistently under performing.

Our first step was to undertake benchmarking research in order to determine how well the Collins site performed in relation to others of a similar nature.  This was followed by a series of usability studies with key audience members. We soon discovered that the site had a number of clear usability and interface design errors that were continually giving users a poor experience.

After producing a written report on our findings and video evidence supporting our claims, we were asked to completely redesign the website.

Based on our findings the first thing we did was to address the information architecture, creating clear navigational routes to all information so as to allow users to understand where they are and how they got there. We then drew up wireframe documents of all key pages so as to illustrate the user interface we had devised. Our interface included a large search box at the top of every page as this was how a high percentage of the users in our study attempted to access the content.

The wireframes were then tested with users and small iteractions were made based on findings, before they were made up into full photoshop mockups of the pages.

For the final stage of the project we built the front end of the website in HTML and CSS and drew up a style document for the development team at Collins to follow.
